PLANNING 2008-2009

This is the time to start planning for your Club's participation in the International Peace Poster Contest for 2008-2009.   I feel that the following suggestions will contribute to a successful contest at the Club Level, especially, if this is the first year your club will be involved.   Some of the suggestions are from the Principals that participated in the Contest and some are my own personal experiences.

Appoint a representative that will approach the schools and/or youth groups in your area in the early spring.  Talk with the principals or leaders and briefly explain the contest.  Ask if they are interested in participating.

Order the kits, remember you must order one kit for each group sponsored, and fully review the material.  Pay special attention to the rules for the participants and club.

Before delivering the kits, keeping in mind the deadlines, plan how you are going to run the contest.  Decide when you will pick up the posters from the schools and/or youth groups, and when and how the judging will take place and what if anything you will provide to the winners and the participants.  Remember, you can send one poster per kit purchased to the District.

Deliver the appropriate material to the schools and/or youth groups in the last week of August or 1st Week of September.  Preferably talk with the Principal, Teacher or Youth Leader and explain the rules for the participants to follow, also, explain how the Club is going to run the contest and be prepared to make a presentation to the classes involved.

If you wish more information or wish us to make a presentation to your Zone, Region or Club Meeting, please contact Lion Lynn or Lion Norm.  Lets work together and make this a successful project within our District.
