BIO – Lion Joe Gauthier
Lion
Joe was born and bred in Renfrew, Ontario.
Lion Joe has volunteered in
his community his whole adult life. He’s chaired various festivals and
committees in Renfrew and, was captain of the volunteer fire department in
Horton Township. Lion Joe also served for nine years in municipal politics.
Lion Joe joined the Renfrew Lions Club in 1999 and immediately became
involved. In fact he became part of the BAIT Committee his first year. He went
on to become BAIT Chairman in 2006-2008. He has held numerous offices in his
club and was president from 2004-2006. Also known as Renfrew’s Santa Claus, Lion
Joe is very involved in the Renfrew Lions Club Annual Santa Claus Parade.
In 2006, Lion Joe dusted off his ambitions and became Zone Chairman for
22East and from 2007-2009 was the Region 22 Chairman. He has maintained 100%
attendance and is a Helen Keller and Judge Brian Stevenson Fellow.
After
over thirty years as an area produce manager for the Loblaw’s Corporation, Lion
Joe now works as a retail manager for Sears.
Travelling in Lions, Lion
Joe met his wife, Lion Shelley, and they married Valentine’s Day 2009. Together,
they have four grown daughters and two grandchildren. A third is due in January
2012.
Lion Joe is proud and honored to serve as the Governor of this
great district.
Thank you to the Lions of District A-4 for this once in
a lifetime opportunity. The friendships and memories will last a lifetime.
The International President’s Theme this year is *I Believe*. Lion Joe
believes that when we all work together, the potential is limitless.
