Plantagenet January 2013

Our Club President, Lion Serge R Lalonde, is one of the senior statesmen on Alfred-Plantagenet Township Council.  Over the years, he has received numerous honours and awards for his outstanding community service.  This year may become one of the highlights of Lion Serge's career.  He was recently recognized by his peers and fellow Councillors, by being presented with a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Anniversary medal.  We congratulate and thank Lion Serge for his many years of exceptional community service.

When the Riceville Food Bank asked the Plantagenet Lions Club for their assistance, they were quick to respond.  A spaghetti supper fundraiser was held, 2 November 2012, at the Plantagenet Community Centre, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank.  As a result of this fundraiser, a total of $435.45 was donated to the Food Bank's Christmas Food Basket drive.

Our members take their collection boxes, White Cane replicas and badge stickers to solicit for contributions at the entrances to the Elgin L.C.B.O. outlet, Gordanier's Grocery, and Portland Ultramar Service Stn. Collection Boxes are also displayed at O'Hearn's Garage in Elgin and at Crosby Castle Building Centre for 4 days starting on the Wednesday before the week-end.
