Effective Speaking Contest
Thanks to the support of all the Clubs in District A-4,
the Effective Speaking Contest remains a viable and growing activity. Once again
we expect to have significant participation in all three categories (English and
French) -- Junior (grades 6 through 8), Intermediate (grades 9 though 10),
Senior (grades 11 thorugh 12) at both District and Multiple District
competitions. We normally receive responses from a number of high schools and
public schools in the area, but club participation is also a necessity and we
expect to have another excellent competition.
The 2008-2009 District A-4 Competition will take place on March 28, 2009 at Holy
Trinity Catholic High School in Kanata.
As you are aware, this project relies on voluntary donations from all Clubs in
District A-4. As per the last few years, we are requesting that each Club
consider a $145 donation in support of this project. $100 of this donation stays
in the District to support our contest, while $45 will go towards the Multiple
District A contest. If you have not already done so, please consider donating to
this worthwhile event.
Cheques should be made payable to "Lions International District A-4" and note
that the donation is for the Effective Speaking Contest. Cheques may be sent to
the District A-4 Treasurer, Lion Trevor Roberts, P O Box 537, Metcalfe, Ontario
K0A 2P0 or to me at the address below.
For a small amount of money, we can provide a large number of students with an
experience that will last a lifetime. Thank you again for you support.
