All District A-4 Lions Clubs are requested to review the following e-mail from Lisa Thomas - Lions CIubs International (LCI) Marketing Publications Assistant-Membership Operations and to NOTE in particular:

'The October Membership Growth Award Program', for the month of October 2008.

Sometimes Lions clubs can have difficulty inviting new members. That said, I would like to remind you, as membership leaders, of the membership growth programs available to your club, district and multiple from the Membership Operations Department at Lions Clubs International. We hope these programs serve as motivation and incentive to invite!

The October Membership Growth Award Program

The October Membership Growth Award Program was re-introduced in 2007 to encourage clubs to invite new members in the month of October. Starting in 2008, all participating clubs will receive a banner patch for their invitation efforts under this program. We encourage you to go online to view the full 2008 criteria and to see the results from the 2007 program.

The Year Round Growth Award Program

The Year Round Growth Program encourages clubs and individuals to invite year round and rewards both clubs and individuals for their efforts. New this year, all sponsoring Lions are eligible for the International President’s Certificate of Sponsorship. To read more on the program and on how to obtain sponsorship and new member certificates, we encourage you to view the Year Round Growth section of the Web site.

The Membership Key Award Program

The Membership Key Award Program is one of LCI’s longest running award programs. It awards individual Lions who invite new members. There are 17 keys in the program, each key marking the invitation of a different number of members. One of the most important rules of the program is that new members must remain for a year and a day before they count toward a sponsor’s key. To read more about how an individual Lion can obtain membership keys, please visit the Membership Key Award Program section of the LCI Web site.

Remember: Your invitation leads to more hands, more service, and to, possibly, more awards for your club.

Best wishes in your year as membership chair! I strongly encourage you to share any program information with the clubs in your district or multiple.

If I can be of help to you, please let me know,

In accordance with the above e-mail from LCI's Lisa Thomas, all District A-4 Clubs Membership Committees are requested to plan a 'Bring Your Buddy Night', a 'Family Night' a 'Bring Your Boss' a 'Bring Your Neighbour Night', etc., or any other 'new member recruitment idea' to increase our District A-4 membership numbers.

For your information, last year, District A-4 had a net increase of 16 members during the month of October 2007.  Let's do even better this year!

Thank you for your favourable consideration and support of this request.

If you have any questions or concerns related to new member recruitment,  please do not hesitate to give me a call or send me an e-mail.
