Peace Poster Instructions
Fellow Lions this is your opportunity to reach out to your community and get some really good PR while doing so. This contest is sponsored by the Lions every year and it encourages youths ages 11 to 13 to think about and discuss the peace process in our times. The theme for this year’s contest is “Vision of Peace”. You may choose to sponsor a youth group in a School or a Scout Troop or some other local group as long as they meet the age requirement.
Should you decide to participate the first thing you have to do is select a ‘Chairperson’ who will be the main contact with the target group. The second thing is to contact the target group and get their agreement to participate and to designate a contact person on their side. As soon as you know how many groups you are going to sponsor you need to order ‘Peace Poster Kits’ from the undersigned and specify whether you want English or French. I have obtained Kits to make it easier for you to get started and will have them at the convention should you already know what you need. They cost $12.00 each and are a marvel of clarity and are all you need to run your program. You need one Kit for each entry you intend. For example if your school has two different classes and they don’t wish to be grouped together you would obtain two Kits and submit two entries. You can only send one entry per Kit. The rules for competition are stated clearly in the Kit and it is IMPORTANT to follow them carefully.
Your entries must be in the mail and postmarked no later than 15
November. District A4 will provide $150, $125 and $100 for first, second and
third place as selected by the Judges in late November.
The first place poster will be forwarded to MDA for competition at that
level where the prize is $1000 (last year) and transportation to
The Kit will instruct you to forward a “Notice to Participate” to the Governor as well as the Selected Posters. We have lost entries in the past so ALL correspondence should now to be sent to the undersigned who will coordinate for the Governor.
